Final Portfolio Reflection

Over the course of this portfolio project, my development as a practical AI user has transformed from relying on basic, conversational prompts to operating as an active, critical human-in-command. The artifact that best represents my growth is my Module 4 tool evaluation of NotebookLM, because it captures the exact moment I moved past simple trial-and-error prompting to systematically analyze tool architecture, limitations, and workflow integration.
Throughout this course, I have learned that prompting is not just about asking questions, but about establishing rigid parameters, assigning personas, and defining clear constraints. I discovered that AI is exceptional at structuring data, summarizing text, and accelerating initial drafts, but it is equally prone to hallucinations, formatting failures, and contextual misalignments. This made the practice of reviewing, revising, and cross-referencing every output against primary source documents absolutely essential.
I also gained a deep appreciation for data privacy, accuracy, and professional authenticity, learning to sanitize inputs, protect sensitive information, and ensure that my authentic voice and rigorous human judgment remain the final filter. While using AI for planning, outlining, and research synthesis feels the most useful, relying on AI for unverified metrics or automated decision-making carries the highest risk.
My ability to evaluate new tools has evolved from passive acceptance to rigorous skepticism. Moving forward, I will apply these skills in my professional consulting work, academic projects, and leadership roles by establishing structured workflows, maintaining data governance, and insisting on ethical accountability. I want to become an AI-ready leader who champions responsible innovation, values transparency, and treats artificial intelligence as a powerful tool guided strictly by human oversight.
